From studying German to being assistant director to becoming a music theater educator: I create, stage, organize and teach – giving space to all my interests and passions.
My world is the theater, and I’m very excited to be part of the new team at Volksoper for the upcoming season 2022/23 – details below!
I develop and implement education formats ranging from introductory talks and workshops to project weeks or long-term thematic focuses. In all my education formats, the point is to relate oneself to a work of art, a story, an aria, a character, to try things out and to find a very personal approach.
… and for aspiring singers, musicians or teachers there are teaching events or teacher training courses!
These are the questions around which my writing workshops, courses and teaching events revolve. Various writing impulses invite you to get into writing, to find words, to discover stories you didn’t even know were hiding inside you.
In addition to ideas for working on texts, there are also tips for skillful reading aloud and presenting.
Under this motto, I present theater pedagogical approaches to artistic topics in workshops, lectures and teacher trainings, so that your audience becomes an active participant.
In addition, educators will receive tips on how to strengthen their own skills: being present – taking care of your voice – absorbing impulses.

I have been the senior director at the Volksoper since March 2024 and am very proud to be leading such a great team.
This summer, I’m heading back to Graz! In the magnificent setting of the Schlossbergbühne Kasematten I will be directing Verdi’s La Traviata with Nicole Chevalier, Xabier Anduaga, Thomas Hampson and members of the Graz Opera house —performances will take place on August 17 and 19. The premiere on August 17 will be broadcast live on ORF III at 8:15 p.m.

From the fall semester of 2020 to the spring semester of 2022, I taught courses at the University of Helsinki on „Creative writing,“ „Performative teaching and learning in the foreign language classroom,“ „Language practice – texts, contexts, situations,“ and „Communication in professional life,“ and was responsible for both the concept and the delivery of the courses.
In the 2009/10 season, I developed the music theater education department OPER AKTIV! at the Opera house Graz. Together with my great colleagues, I created and realized workshops on current productions, gave introductory lectures, took school classes and groups on a journey of discovery behind the scenes of the opera house, facilitated rehearsal visits and artist talks, and led theater clubs. In addition, during this time I brought out my own productions and moderated family concerts.
According to the motto „Contemporary Opera by Children for Children“ I staged several productions at the Opera house Graz: „The Journey of the Little Prince“ by Gerald Wirth (2008/09, WA 2012/13 and 2014/15), „Noye’s Fludde“ by Benjamin Britten (2009/10), „Peter Pan“ by Wilfried Hiller (2007/08) and „Agleia Federweiß“ by Gerd Kühr (2006/07).
